Caracalla, 196 - 217 AD
AE 28 of Augusta TraianaLaureate head right / River
god within grotto, city gateway with three towers above
Comment- The river god is resting on a jug from which
river water flows. Narrow towers, not the usual wide ones . Nice dark blue patina. |

Septimius Severus, 193 - 211 AD
AE 28 of Augusta TraianaLaureate head right / City
gate flanked by two towers, a third tower rising up behind
Comment- This coin and the two coins above are examples
of family members sharing the same coin design. The top row of the wall is thought to be
windows. |

Septimius Severus, 193 - 211 AD
AE 31 of Augusta Traiana
Governor Statilius BarbarusLaureate head right /
City gate flanked by two towers, a third tower rising up behind
Comment- Extremely rare reverse showing possibly the
first fast food drive-up window, with a canopy overhead. I can't seem to remember when I
thought up this attribution, but I think I was at White Castle ;+) |

Marcus Aurelius, 139 - 180 AD
AE 31 of Augusta TraianaBust right /
City gate flanked by two towers, a third tower rising up behind
Comment- Marcus Aurelius Provincials
with city gate reverses seem to be relatively scarce. This is the only
one I have. Notice the window in the center tower. The door is closed. |

AE 20 of Augusta TraianaLaureate head right / City
gate flanked by two towers, a third tower rising up behind
Comment- Lumpy dark patina made this one difficult to
photograph, but the lighting shows the details. |
